A Flat Tyre

Scripture: Isaiah 23

In The End, The Proud Will Fall

“The oracle concerning Tyre. Wail O ships of Tarshish, for Tyre is laid waste, without house or harbor!” (v1)

“Who has purposed this against Tyre, the bestower of crowns, whose merchants were princes, whose traders were the honored of the earth? The Lord of hosts has purposed it, to defile the pompous pride of all glory, to dishonor the honored of the earth.” (v8-9)

“thus says the Lord God: Behold, I am against you, O Tyre, and will bring up many nations against you, as the sea brings up its waves. They shall destroy the walls of Tyre and break down her towers, and I will scrape her soil from her and make her a bare rock.” (Ezekiel 26:3-4)

Be humble or Be humbled

“And the haughtiness of man shall be humbled, and the lofty pride of men shall be brought low. . .” (Isaiah 2:17a)

In The End, God Will Be Exalted

“Her merchandise and her wages will be holy to the LORD. It will not be stored or hoarded, but her merchandise will supply abundant food and fine clothing for those who dwell before the LORD.” (v18)

“. . . and the LORD alone will be exalted in that day.” (Isaiah 2:17b)

Christ will be exalted.  Christians will be exalted with Him.

“Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that as the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:9-11)

“Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.” (Matthew 23:12)
