Giving Thanks Through Faithful Service

November 17, 2019

Exodus 35:30-36:2

We are Called by Name

“See the LORD has called by name Bezalel . . .” (v30)

We ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the firstfruits to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth. To this he called you through our gospel, so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (2 Thessalonians 2:13-14)

__________________________ , I have chosen you.

*see John 15:19

We are Filled with the Spirit

“. . . and he has filled him with the Spirit of God . . .” (v31)

Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So, glorify God with your body.”

(1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

Being filled with the Spirit is a choice.

* see Ephesians 5:18

We are Gifted with Skills

“ . . . with skill, with intelligence, with knowledge and will all craftsmanship to devise artistic designs, to work in gold and silver  and bronze, in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, for every work in every skilled craft.” (v31-33)

“As each has received a gift use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace. . . in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. . .” (1 Peter 4:10-11)

Your gifts and abilities are chosen by God to build up the church. *See 1 Corinthians 12:18

We are Inspired to Teach

And he has inspired him to teach, both him and Oholiab the son of Ahisamach of the tribe of Dan.”.” (v34)

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. We ask you, brothers, to respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves. And we urge you brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with all.   (1 Thessalonians 5:11-14)

“Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another . . .” (Hebrews 10:24-25)

Faithful service done out of a thankful heart is contagious.

“And I have given all men ability, that they may make all that I have commanded you.” (Exodus 31:6)
