True Disciples are Known
Because We are Called
“And (Jesus) went up on the mountain and called to him those whom he desired, and they came to him.” (v13)
“He was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was made manifest in the last times for the sake of you.” (1 Peter 1:20)
“For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son . . . and those he predestined he also called.” (Romans 8:29-30)
“He chose us in him before the foundation of the world” (Ephesians 1:4)
True Disciples are Known
Because of Who We are With
“And he appointed twelve (whom he also named apostles) so that they might be with him” (v14)
“For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.” (1 Corinthians 12:12)
“Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?” (2 Corinthians 6:14)
True Disciples are Known
Because of What We Do
“and he might send them out to preach and have authority to cast out demons.” (v14)
“Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)
“Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.” (Matthew 7:20)
