Give Sacrificially
“And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” (v21)
“There is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands, for my sake and for the gospel, who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and in the age to come eternal life.” (v30)
“if anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” (Mark 8:34)

Think Eternally
“Grant us to sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your glory.” (v37)
“If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.”
(Colossians 3:1-2)
“Don’t store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven . . . for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:19-20)

Serve with Humility
“But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave to all. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (v44-45)
“If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example that you should do just as I have done to you. Truly, truly I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master.” (John 13:14-16)
