Jesus Came to Give Life

Jesus Came to Give Life
December 23, 2018

John  3:1-18

 New Life

“Jesus answered him, ‘truly, truly I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God’.” (John 3:3)

Begins through the Spirit

“Truly, truly I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” (John 3:5-6)

“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all.” (John 6:63)

Begins now

“The kingdom of God is not coming in ways that can be observed, nor will they say, ‘look here it is!’ or ‘there!’ for behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you.” (Luke 17:20-21)

 Eternal Life

“whoever believes in him may have eternal life.” (John 3:15)

Motivated by love

“For God so loved the world . . .” (John 3:16)

In this the love of God was manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.” (1 John 4:9)

 Proved by sacrifice

 “. . . that he gave his only Son . . .” (John 3:16)

“In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” (1 John 4:10)

Received by belief

 “. . . that whoever believes in him . . .” (John 3:16)

“Truly, truly I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life”. (John 6:47)

 Culminated by eternal life

 “. . . should not perish, but have eternal life.”(John 3:16)

This is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent”. (John 17:3)
