Scripture: Acts 9:1-31
We Are Bold Because We Have Seen the Light
“Now as he went on his way, he approached Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven shone around him. And falling to the ground, he heard a voice saying to him, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’” (v3-4)
“Jesus spoke to them, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’” (John 8:12)
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.” (Matthew 5:14-15)
We Are Bold Because We Are Supported by the Disciples
“For some days he was with the disciples at Damascus. And immediately he proclaimed Jesus in the synagogues, saying, ‘He is the Son of God’.” (v19-20)
“for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord. . .” (2 Timothy 1:7-8)
We Are Bold Because We are Disciples
“Saul increased all the more in strength, and confounded the Jews who lived in Damascus by proving that Jesus was the Christ.” (v22)
“we had boldness in our God to declare to you the gospel of God in the midst of much conflict.” (1 Thessalonians 2:2)
When We Are Bold, We Make Disciples
“So he went in and out among them at Jerusalem, preaching boldly in the name of the Lord.” (v28)
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations. . .” (Matthew 28:19)
