Scripture: Jude 1-16
We are Called to a Common Salvation
“To those who are called, beloved in God the Father and kept for Jesus Christ. . . to write to you about our common salvation” (v1,3)
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will . . .” (Ephesians 1:3-5)
“Those whom he predestined, he also called, and those whom he called, he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.” (Romans 8:30)
We Should Fight for a Shared Faith
“I found it necessary to write to you appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.” (v4)
“Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” (1 Timothy 6:12)
“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together. . . but encouraging one another. . .” (Hebrews 10:23-25)
We Believe in a Righteous Judgment
“Jesus, who saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe.” (v5)
“Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of his holy ones, to execute judgment on all and to convict all the ungodly of all their deeds of ungodliness that they have committed in such an ungodly way” (v14-15)
