What Is That to You?

Scripture: John 21:18-25

Follow Jesus Regardless of the Consequences

“This he said to show by what kind of death he was to glorify God. And after saying this he said to him, ‘Follow me.’” (v19)

Then Jesus told his disciples, ‘If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.’” (Matthew 16:24-25)

It is for God’s Glory

Follow Jesus Regardless of what Anyone Else is Doing

“Peter turned and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them . . . When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, ‘Lord, what about this man?’ Jesus said to him, ‘If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me!’” (v20-22)

And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours.’” (Luke 15:31)

It is God’s Will

Follow Jesus in Order to be a Witness

“This is the disciple who is bearing witness about these things, and who has written these things, and we know that his testimony is true.” (v24)

You are witnesses of these things.” (Luke 24:48)

“Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” (Mark 16:15)

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

It is for God’s Kingdom
