What Now?

Habakkuk 3:17-19

 “Even Though . . .”

                Recognize Trouble

“Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls,” (v17)

“We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.” (2 Corinthians 4:8-9)

“I Will . . .”

                Receive Joy

“Yet I will rejoice in the LORD; I will take joy in the God of my salvation.” (v18)

“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds” (James 1:2)

“Because God . . .”

                Remember God

“God, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer’s; he makes me tread on my high places.” (v19)

“The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.” (Psalm 118:14)

How can you remember God in the midst of trouble?

  1. Read your Bible

“I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your wonders of old. I will ponder all your work and meditate on your mighty deeds.” (Psalm 77:11-12)

  • Spend time in prayer

“Oh give thanks to the LORD; call upon his name; . . . Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually! Remember the wondrous works he has done.”

(1 Chronicles 16:8,11-12)

  • Participate in a growth group

“And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people.” (Acts 2:46-47)

  • Go to church regularly

“Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” (Hebrews 10:24-25)
