Be Filled With the Spirit

Scripture: Ephesians 5:18-21

What are the evidences of a person who is filled with the Spirit?

Their Praise Sounds Joyful (v19)

“But others mocking said, ‘They are filled with wine.’  But Peter . . . lifted up his voice and addressed them: ‘For these people are not drunk as you suppose. . . God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit’.”  (Acts 2:13-17)

About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.” (Acts 16:25)

Their Prayers Sound Thankful (v20)

“As (Hannah) continued praying before the LORD, Eli observed her mouth (and) took her to be a drunken woman. . . But Hannah answered . . . ‘I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but I have been pouring out my soul before the LORD.’” (1 Samuel 1:12-15)

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18-19)

Their Lives Look Humble (v21)

“The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look at him!  A glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’” (Matthew 11:19)

“So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” (Philippians 2:1-4)
