Scripture: Philippians 2:19-30

Follow the leader who has a humble mind

“. . . genuinely concerned for your welfare.” (v20)

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves which is yours in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 2:3-5)

Follow the leader who has a proven worth

“ . . . proven worth . . . he has served with me in the gospel.” (v22)

“For though you have countless guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel. I urge you then, be imitators of me. That is why I send you Timothy, my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, to remind you of my ways in Christ, as I teach them everywhere in every church.” (1 Corinthians 4:15-17)

Follow the leader who has a faithful work

“. . . my brother and fellow worker and fellow soldier, and your messenger and minister to my need.” (v25)

“His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant.”

 (Matthew 25:23)

Follow the leader who has a compassionate heart

“ . . . he has been longing for you all” (v26)

“I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God.” (Philippians 4:18)

“Set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.” (1 Timothy 4:12)
