Get Ready

Pastor Travis Armstrong

Ephesians 6:15-16

August 18, 2019

Put On Your Gospel Shoes

“and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace”. (v15)

Get Prepared

“in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.”  (1 Peter 3:15-16)

How do you get prepared with the gospel?

Get to know the gospel intimately and personally so that you are always ready to share it.

Get Going

God, through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us.”

(2 Corinthians 5:18-20)

How do you get going with the gospel?

Take the truth of the gospel of peace to those who need to hear it.

“The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.” (Romans 16:20)

Pick Up Your Faith Shield

“In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish the flaming arrows of the evil one.” (v16)

Lift it Up

“But you, O LORD, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.” (Psalm 3:3)

How do you lift up your faith?

Get to know God, by regularly spending time with him.

Live it Out

“We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. . . So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.” (2 Corinthians 4:8-19,16-18)

How do you live out your faith?

Make God and his church the number one priority in your life.

“Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith. . .” (1 Peter 5:8)
