Jesus Has the Authority to Heal

Scripture: Matthew 9:18-34

Jesus Has Authority over Hopelessness

“There was a woman who had had a discharge of blood for twelve years, and who had suffered much under many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was no better but rather grew worse.” (Mark 5:25-26)

“Take heart daughter; your faith has made you well. And instantly the woman was made well.”  (v22)

Jesus Has Authority Over Death

When he entered, he said to them, ‘Why are you making a commotion and weeping? The child is not dead but sleeping.’ They laughed at him.  But he put them all outside and took the child’s father and mother and those who were with him and went in where the child was. Taking her by the hand he said to her, ‘Talitha cumi’ which means ‘Little girl, I say to you, arise.’ And immediately the girl got up and began walking.” (Mark 5:39-42)

Jesus Has Authority Over Brokenness

When he entered the house, the blind men came to him, and Jesus said to them, ‘Do you believe that I am able to do this? They said to him, ‘Yes Lord.’ Then he touched their eyes, saying, ‘According to your faith be it done to you.’ And their eyes were opened.” (v28-30)

“Great crowds came to him, bringing with them the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute and many others, and they put them at his feet, and he healed them . . . And they glorified the God of Israel.” (Matthew 15:30-31)

Jesus Has Authority Over Sinfulness

Behold a demon-oppressed man who was mute was brought to him. And when the demon had been cast out, the mut man spoke. And the crowds marveled. (v32-33)

“the report of this went through all that district” (v26)

“they went away and spread his fame through all that district.” (v31)
