Prayer

 “Hannah was deeply distressed and prayed to the Lord and wept bitterly”.   (v10)

“O Lord, rebuke me not in your anger, nor discipline me in your wrath. Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am languishing, heal me, O Lord, for my bones are troubled. My soul is greatly troubled. But you, O Lord- How long? Turn, O Lord and deliver my life; save me for the sake of your steadfast love.”  (Psalm 6:1-4)

Promise

 “But Hannah did not go up, for she said to her husband, ‘As soon as the child is weaned, I will bring him, so that he may appear in the presence of the Lord and dwell there forever.” (v22)

 “I will not set before my eyes anything that is worthless. I hate the work of those who fall away; it shall not cling to me. A perverse heart shall be far from me; I will know nothing of evil.” (Psalm 101:3-4)

Preparation

“So the woman remained and nursed her son until she weaned him.” (v23)

“Therefore preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. Presence

“When she had weaned him, she took him up with her, . . . and she brought him to the house of the Lord at Shiloh. And the child was young,. . .and they brought the child to Eli.” (v24-25)

“Oh magnify the Lord with me, let us exalt his name together.”  (Psalm 34:3)

Presentation

“Therefore, I have lent him to the LORD. As long as he lives, he is lent to the LORD.” (v28)
