Esther 8

1. Plan -(v1)    Esther is made Queen

“the king loved Esther more than all the women, and she won grace and favor in his sight . . . so that he set the royal crown on her head and made her queen instead of Vashti”  – (Esther 2:17)

“On that day King Ahasuerus gave to Queen Esther the house of Haman, the enemy of the Jews.” (8:1)

“The angel said to them, Fear not, for behold I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people”- (Luke 2:10)

God is Always in Control

2. Provision -(v2) Mordecai is Honored

“so they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai” – (Esther 7:10)

“The king took off his signet ring which he had taken from Haman and gave it to Mordecai. And Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman.” (8:2)

“For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you; you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” (Luke 2:11-12)

God Always Provides

3. Peace -(v3-14)  The Jews are Saved

“ Letters were sent by couriers to all the king’s provinces with instruction to destroy, to kill and to annihilate all Jews, young and old, women and children” (Esther 3:13)

“. . . the king allowed the Jews who were in every city to gather and defend their lives, to destroy, to kill and to annihilate any armed force of any people or province that might attack them. . . and to plunder their goods.” (8:11)

“Glory to God in the highest and on earth, peace among those whom he is pleased!” (Luke 2:14)

God Always Brings Peace

4. Praise -(v15-17) Everybody Celebrates

“the city of Susa shouted and rejoiced. The Jews had light and gladness and joy and honor. And in every province and in every city, wherever the king’s command and his edict reached, there was gladness and joy among the Jews, a feast and a holiday.” (8:15-17)

“And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God” (Luke 2:13)

“the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen.” (Luke 2:20)

God is Always Worthy of Praise

Our goal is that our hearts might become captivated again

by the joy of the good news

so that our community might be drawn to Christ
