Salvation is Exodus

Exodus 12:33-36 | John 12:32-34

God’s Salvation Means Leaving Something Behind

Slaves to Egypt

The Egyptians were urgent with the people to send them out of the land in haste. For they said, “We shall all be dead” So the people took their dough before it was leavened, their kneading bowls being bound up in their cloaks on their shoulders.” (Ex. 12:33-34)

“Egypt was glad when they departed, for dread of them had fallen upon it.” (Psalm 105:38)

Slaves to Sin

“Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” (John 8:34-36)

God’s Salvation Means Gaining Something Valuable

The Treasure of Egypt

The people of Israel had also done as Moses told them, for they had asked the Egyptians for silver and gold jewelry and for clothing. And the LORD had given the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they let them have what they asked. Thus they plundered the Egyptians.” (Ex. 12:35-36)

“Then he brought out Israel with silver and gold, and there was none among his tribes who stumbled.” (Psalm 105:38)

The Treasure of Jesus

“And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” (John 12:32)
