Scripture: Isaiah 34-35
A Time of Trouble
“Draw near, O nations, to hear and give attention, O peoples! Let the earth hear, and all that fills it; the world, and all that comes from it.” (34:1)
“For then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no and never will be.” (Matthew 24:21).
“Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out.” (Acts 3:19)
A Time of Restoring
“For the Lord is enraged against all nations, and furious against all their hosts, he has devoted them to destruction . . . mountains shall flow with their blood. All the host of heaven shall rot away, and the skies roll up like a scroll. And their host shall fall, as leaves fall . . . like leaves falling from the fig tree.” (34:2-4)“
And the winepress was trodden outside the city, and blood flowed from the winepress as high as a horse’s bridle for 1,600 stadia.” (Revelation 14:20)
“the stars of the sky fell to the earth as the fig tree sheds its winter fruit when shaken by a gale.” (Revelation 6:13)
“that he may send Christ appointed for you, Jesus whom heaven must receive until the time for restoring all things.” (Acts 3:20)
A Time of Refreshing
“Behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God. He will come and save you. Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened . . .” (35:4-5)
“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” (Revelation 21:4)
“that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.” (Acts 3:20)
