Questions of Jesus

Which of You by Being Anxious Can Add to His Life?

Matthew 6:25-34

Food

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?” (v25)

“Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.” (Matthew 10:28-31)

Faith

“But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothes you, O you of little faith?” (v30)

“If you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’, and it will move and nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:20)

Father

“Therefore do not be anxious, saying ‘what shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or “What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.”  (v31-32)

“Rejoice in the Lord always; again, I will say rejoice. . .  The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:4-7)

First

“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow.”  (v33-34)

“Cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)

When we turn our focus away from food, and we have faith in the Father first, we increase our hunger for him, and our life is filled with joy and peace. And all those other things, (food and clothing) will be added to us as well.
