Scripture: 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 & Matthew 1:18-25
Love is Jealous, Not Envious
“Love does not envy” (1 Corinthians 13:4)
“Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly.” (Matthew 1:18-19)
“You shall worship no other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous , is a jealous God.” (Exodus 34:14)
Because God has a jealous love for you, choose to be faithful to Him!
Love is Humble, Not Boastful
“Love does not boast” (1 Corinthians 13:4)
“And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth.” (Luke 2:4-6)
“Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” (Philippians 2:4-8)
Because God has a humble love for you, choose to serve others out of devotion to Him!
